Crafting Content That Inspires with Carla Bonomini
Thanks to all of the twists and turns throughout her 10-year professional journey, Carla Bonomini has been able to create the life and job of her dreams. She’s now on a mission to create significant content that helps others figure themselves out, and ultimately make a positive difference in their lives.
Through several outlets, including her monthly newsletter, Patreon community, workshops, and more, she’s able to reach an audience all around the world and inspire them to also create the life of their dreams.
We were able to chat with Carla about how her journey led her to this point, how she is able to serve those in her audience well, and what she looks for in an ideal client. We hope you are just as inspired from this conversation as we were!
Hi Carla! Tell us a little about yourself.
Hey! I’m Carla, I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and recently moved to Berlin with my boyfriend and my two cats. I turned 30 this year, which marked kind of a milestone for me both personally and professionally. I’m a morning person, I’m vegan and I’m always drinking mate.
I’m also an only child, and since I can remember, I’ve always been a very quiet and introspective kid, making up entire universes on my bedroom floor with paper, pencils, glue, and toys. I believe that this turned me into the creative introspective adult I am today, which is something I’m actually very proud of! Right now I work as a freelance content creator alternating between my home office and different coworking spaces.
How did you get started helping others find themselves creatively?
During the course of my career I went through different professional instances. I was a young creative at an ad agency and then I co-founded my own one until I finally went freelance. Each one of those experiences made it possible for me to now have what I consider to be the job of my dreams: I create experiences that help others figure themselves out creatively.
I try to achieve this through my Patreon community, my workshops, a monthly newsletter, individual mentorship sessions, videos, photographs, and writings—and all of this oriented to a Spanish speaking audience. I love real life experiences, but now because of Coronavirus I’d say 100% of my work happens on the virtual sphere (which on the other hand makes it accessible worldwide!).
What are you passionate about in your work?
My mission is to create significant content that makes a positive difference in other people’s lives. I think my ultimate goal is to inspire someone else to kick their censor and have the courage to create something that comes from within. Every time a new project comes out of a workshop, every time a mentee makes great progress, every time we do the monthly creative presentations on my Patreon community—that’s when I feel the most alive.
How do you advertise your service to others?
Instagram is my main self-advertising platform, I post everything there. Through the years I built a really strong Spanish-speaking community there and, even though I moved to Germany, I decided to keep posting on my mother tongue and creating content for that audience (which also keeps me somewhat connected to my roots).
What does your ideal workspace look like?
Well, wood is my favourite material so I’d say it would have a big wooden desk and also a lot of plants and sunlight. And lots of mate, of course!
How would you describe your ideal client?
I have two lines of work: individuals and companies.
My ideal individual client would be anyone trying to lead a more creatively fulfilled existence, really. But if I think about client work for companies, which right now is mainly content creation for social media, I have to say I used to be very self conscious about how sensitive I am and always tried to hide it, doing what I believed to be the “correct thing” for companies—until I found out that being sensitive is actually one of my core values!
Since then I love working with companies who also appreciate sensitive work, and I think my ideal client would respect, value, and even crave sensitivity and emotion. He/she’d have to have a vegan friendly business as well, since a while ago I decided not to work for companies who commercialize meat or dairy products.
And last but not least, tell us where we can find you!
